NON-SURGICAL LIFT WITH USE OF PDO THREADS
At Medical Margaret Spa we perform the most modern lifting procedures with use of PDO, Silhouette, Aptos or Happy Lift threads.
The lifting effect is achieved with use of special splice of threads and the properties enhancing collagen and elastin synthesis that polydioxanone, the substance of which the threads are made, shows.
The PDO thread system was developed five years ago in South Korea and at present it is utilized in a number of countries (Japan, the USA, Brazil, Russia and Western Europe). PDO (polydioxanone) is a strong synthetic fiber made of one (monofilament) or two twisted permanent fibers (polyfilament), which dissolve in the tissue after some time.
Polydioxanone is a material known and used in medicine for years.

So far it has been utilized mostly for production of sub- and cutaneous stitches used in plastic surgery, ophthalmology and gynecology.
The material meets all the requirements specified by the US Pharmacopeia (USP) as regards surgical stitches as well as shows a high level of safety.
In clinical research it was proven that polydioxanone enhances the process of neocolagenesis in the tissues, that is stimulates production of new collagen – the protein responsible for skin pertness. Moreover, stimulation of fibroblasts causes enhancement of elastin synthesis – elastin being the protein responsible for skin elasticity. In in vivo research it was also confirmed that polydioxanone causes synthesis of natural (endogenic) hyaluronic acid.
With this mechanism the skin into which PDO threads have been injected becomes more pert, elastic and better hydrated. 

The PDO thread injection technique is based on utilization of natural skin tension lines, which additionally contributes to an effect similar to surgical lift.
With use of PDO threads we can also limit the strength of the facial muscles and achieve an effect similar to injection of botulinum toxin – muscle relaxation and smoothing the facial lines. The esthetic effect is more natural than in case of botulinum toxin, as we do not immobilize the facial muscles but simply weaken their activity. The procedure is suitable for people from c. 30 years old when the first signs of aging appear. However, there is no upper age limit.
